Courtney Connors, Founder

Hi! I’m Courtney Connors, and I’m the owner and founder of Beyond K9 Training. I founded BK9 in honor of my dog Jax, with whom I experienced firsthand the struggle of dealing with an anxious and fear-biting dog. Jax began to show signs of anxiety, like lunging and biting, resulting in many stress-filled, heartbreaking and unhappy days. I desperately needed answers, so after months of failed training attempts with multiple “behavior specialists,” I finally came across an amazing group of dedicated rehabilitation dog trainers who came to my rescue! I always considered myself a responsible dog owner, but I would come to learn so much more about what it means to be an educated owner.

I loved working with my own dogs, so naturally I had always thought about becoming a dog trainer. After learning and seeing the amazing change in Jax via proper techniques in building confidence and balance, it was a no-brainer. I ultimately decided to join my mentors in providing support to pet owners everywhere. My beginnings were with dog walking and pet sitting, and now training, where I work with owners to help them understand the fundamentals of a healthy relationship with their dog. I spend my time creating programs that offer solutions to even the most challenging issues. I am always growing and adapting, and love getting creative with each individual dog to determine which methods work best for them. It is my passion to create balanced and well-behaved dogs, alongside educated and satisfied owners.

Throughout my career, I have learned many styles of training and have determined the pros and cons of each, which is why I customize programs based on the needs of the breed in front of me. I work diligently with each dog, but more importantly, I take my training BEYOND the dog and directly to owners to help educate them on their role throughout the whole process. The owner-and-dog relationship is ultimately the most important one so it’s imperative that owners are provided all of the tools they need for success. Hence, my companies name — BEYOND K9.

Human-to-dog ratio

We implement a 1-human-per-4-dog ratio during play group (unless sibling dogs are involved then max is 6 dogs.) If more dogs are present, another staff member will be present. 

KNOWING WHAT DOGS NEED

We adapt to the difference needs of each pet in our care, offering breed-specific enrichment, games and puzzles, down time to recharge, and more in a home-based, clean and quiet atmosphere.

WORTH EVERY PENNY

We provide a well-trained and educated staff whose priority is the safety of the animals in our care. We provide each pet with a minimum of 4 outs a day (long walks or play time), manage any medication needs and special diets, and provide constant video and photo updates. Your pets are your family, which means they are our family.

TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION

At just $25 per transport, our transit vehicle is equipped with the safest of RufflLand Kennels to keep your dog safe during their ride.
