Canine Wellness & Care Technician (Independent Contractor)
We’re looking for a dependable, grounded, and canine-savvy individual to support daily care, enrichment, and overall well-being for dogs in daycare, boarding, and rehoming programs.
This role is hands-on, physical, and deeply rooted in humane care. Many of the dogs we work with are in transition or require extra patience and awareness, so comfort and experience with dogs who have behavioral challenges is essential. If you’re someone who leads with calm energy, pays attention to detail, and isn’t afraid of real work, this position may be a great fit.
What the Work Looks Like
You’ll be responsible for ensuring every dog receives consistent, compassionate care throughout the day. This includes preparing and providing meals, water, enrichment, exercise (yard play, walks, etc.), clean and comfortable living spaces, and appropriate socialization as directed. You’ll follow individualized care and handling instructions for each canine and safely handle dogs using positive reinforcement principles.
Daily tasks also include cleaning and sanitizing bedding, bowls, toys, and shared spaces; organizing supplies; and completing general janitorial and grounds maintenance duties. Maintaining a clean, safe, and calm environment for both canines and humans is a core part of this role.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments — including dogs with anxiety, reactivity, or behavioral needs. You should have a working understanding of canine body language, safe handling techniques, and how to de-escalate tense situations.
This is a physically demanding role. You must be able to lift 50+ lbs, handle dogs over 100 lbs on leash, climb stairs, and stay active throughout the day. Being comfortable getting dirty and working in both home-based and kennel environments is important.
We’re looking for someone who is punctual, honest, patient, and responsible; communicates clearly via verbal, written, and cellular communication; and can think ahead, prioritize tasks, and react calmly when situations change. Reliable transportation and references are required. A willingness to continue learning about canine behavior, wellness, and client interaction is highly valued.
Our Values
As a woman-owned business centered on wellness, safety, and elevated standards of care, we prioritize creating a secure, respectful environment for the dogs we serve and the people who work with them. We are committed to positive reinforcement handling, humane treatment, and supporting dogs through all stages of care and transition.
